Sky View Retreat Center
Sky View Retreat Center is a space that welcomes anyone seeking a deeper perspective and understanding into their truest selves through horse partnering (Equine Guided Learning activities) and retreats. Because horses exude mindfulness and are sentient beings, they offer a clear, non-judgmental, unaltered view into our truest nature... our authentic selves.
Allowing them this opportunity to speak directly to our hearts, leads to tremendous freedom and relief through very specific answers and self-realizations. Experiencing such an intimacy can lead to tremendous growth within ourselves in a very short time.
Horses make fantastic growth partners for many reasons. They are prey animals that rely on receiving and responding to energy. They have a ginormous heart center. When given the opportunity to exist at liberty, they live in a state of congruence, mindfulness, and authenticity at all times. They aren't judgmental and offer a pure response back.
When people are examining issues of their life that aren't in congruence (the inside isn't matching up with the outside... or they say everything is 'fine' when actually it's 'horrible'), the horses sense the inauthentic and confusing energy. They invite the person to further explore their individual truth. Very simply, horses mirror back to us what is really going on behind our masks, busyness, and false realities.
When working with clients, we begin with a meditation and body scan to get them out of their "thinking head" and into their "feeling body". Then, depending on how the horses are directing us, we may create a mandala, choose from a particular intuitive deck of cards, ask the horse what they'd like to discuss, etc.
Our horses are at liberty, meaning they are free to roam the pasture and are given the opportunity to respond and interact as they truly feel in that moment. All of the interaction is done with the connection to the horses’ energy. As we sit outside of the pasture fence, the horses are free to move and respond as they desire.
As a Facilitator, my job is to create the space that fosters intimacy, curiosity and exploration into our emotional, mental, physical, spiritual, and energetic beings. I point out how the horses are responding, and ask the questions to invite the clients to go deeper until they realize the congruency, clarity, and relief they seek. As they become congruent, the horses respond in kind; so they also receive the visual acknowledgment from the horses' physical response.
Personally speaking, partnering with horses changed my life and allowed me to heal and grow into my authentic self very quickly because of the complete intimacy and experiential aspect of horse partnering. There's something beautiful and sacred in allowing a powerful and gracious creature to stare into your soul and spirit and lovingly kiss your heart.
